The Crucible Act 1

.) Abigail is the always the first to always say there’s witchcraft involved with something mostly she seems like an instigator. Betty even though she’s young seems very quite and that’s not because she’s in a coma but she’s laid back sort of. Tituba is more outgoing than all the girls because it’s either the way she talks or it’s just how she was brought up as a child. Mercy was the one out the group who liked to do the right thing and was scared to get in trouble. The leader would have to be Abigail because she threatened all the girls that if they spoke about what the did that night that she would come to them in the block of some terrible night and bring a pointy reckoning that would shudder them. Mary Warren was the only one who wanted to tell what the girls did that night but Abigail wouldn’t let her.

.) They danced in the forest and Tituba conjured Ruth Putnam’s dead sisters.

.) Parris is insecure because he knows the Putnam’s have accused people of being witches and have taken their land when they were killed. He dislikes Thomas Putnam because he could accuse anyone of being a witch and take his or her land.

.) She dismissed her because she rarely came to the church and she would not sit so close to something soiled. This rejection helps build up the witch hysteria because witches don’t like the church because they work for the devil.

.) To avoid hanging, the accused must confess being a witch and confess to God and bless him. Tituba opens up to prove that she wasn’t the one who wanted to start all the witchcraft stuff. It was Abigail who started it all.

.) The affect it had was that they all started accusing people of being witches so that they could avoid the penalty of death.

.) I think in act 2 they’ll start asking each girl what happened that night and who was in charge of the whole thing.
